This time, I chose a very easy trail—Hushan (Tiger) Hiking Trail.
The entrance isn’t far from Houshanpi MRT Station—about 15-minute walk.
I specially invited my husband to film and interact with me
I’m so scared of falling while filming in the mountains, so this feels safer.

🇹🇼 Taiwanese hiking cultural observation
I used to have no interest in hiking when I was in Taiwan.
Honestly, my first reaction was: hiking is tiring, hot, and full of mosquitoes.
Later, I met some foreign friends living in Taiwan, and they took me hiking.
That’s when I realized there are actually so many benefits to hiking.
In Taipei, it’s often not really “hiking” in the intense sense,
是去走步道,but more like walking along hiking trails.
At that time, it felt like discovering a whole new world,
because on these trails, you can visit temples, meet fellow hikers, and truly relax,
observe plants, see all kinds of insects, and watch butterflies.
And the best part is—you can easily get there by MRT anytime you feel like it.
By the way, did you know? Taiwan is known as the “Kingdom of Butterflies.”),
What food do we usually bring with us when we go hiking?
Usually, Taiwanese people bring fruit and tea that they’ve already prepared at home :)
Just like I mentioned in the video, tea somehow tastes especially good in the mountains.
⛰️
How to get there again?
be sure to go from 後山埤一號出口 Houshanpi Station Exit1 to
奉天宮 fengtian temple https://maps.app.goo.gl/wiD5ZKqQ71Ki7mrL8

P.S..
Many of you’ve mentioned you wish to practice speaking directly with me,
So I’ve opened enrollment for my Speak Taiwanese Mandarin Premier Coaching Circle.
(May-October)
You can now practice directly with me. The goal is to help you get unstuck
in conversations, and speak natural Mandarin with confidence.
It's for high beginners or pre-intermediate learners who understand
some Chinese but have trouble speaking.
